Matteo Garrone’s ‘Io Capitano’ Nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 2024 Oscars
The 2024 Oscar nominations were announced today, and the film ‘Oppenheimer’ leads the pack with an impressive 13 nominations, followed by ‘Povere creature’ with 11. ‘Barbie’ also secured 4 nominations, with Margot Robbie surprisingly not listed among the best lead actresses. Italy celebrated as ‘Io Capitano’ by Matteo Garrone made the cut as one of the five films in contention for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. It will compete against ‘Perfect Days’, ‘Society of the Snow’, ‘The Teacher’s Lounge, and ‘The Zone of Interest.’
‘Io Capitano’ has already received numerous accolades, including participating in the competition at the 80th Venice International Film Festival and winning the Silver Lion for Best Director.
